Day 8 & 9: Seattle

This post is day 8 & 9 of my Alaska trip which is the
last post!
You guys are probably getting so sick
of hearing about my trip.
After we got off the ship in Vancouver we took a bus
to Seattle.
We went to dinner at lots of amazing restaurants while
in Seattle and did lots of great shopping. Did you
know the Seattle is where Nordstrom's flagship
store is? And they were having a tent sale!

Seattle from the space needle!

This was definitely a Seattle must do!

The morning of the only full day we spent here
we took a foodie tour of pike's place market.

They take you around the market and you get to eat
the best of what these little shops had to offer.
The doughnuts here were absolutely amazing.

Of course we visited the Fish Market.

We got to sample the best white peaches I've ever
had here.

THE best clam chowder I've ever had.
Seriously, nothing else will ever compare.
This is a must hit in the market!

 Peonies :)

Cherry store! I got KP some goodies here since
he loves everything cherry.

This is the original Sur La Table! Amazing store.
Either registering here or williams sonoma for wedding
gifts!

You can see Mt. Mckinley very faintly in the back
of this picture.

We had a great time in Seattle and I would definitely go
back! I loved the relaxed atmosphere and definitely
loved the shopping. Although they were lacking a proper
Lilly store!

All in all it was a great trip that I will remember forever
and I hope that you enjoyed my re-cap!

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Bridal Talk Tuesday: Picking the date

Linking up today with Elizabeth
for Bridal Talk Tuesday!
So sorry that I missed last week
Tuesday & Wednesday are our days at
the hospital this semester and I've found that I come
home, shower, get in my PJ's and am
asleep on the couch by 9 o'clock.
Which if you know me, you know
that this is EXTREMELY not like me.
I have just been so tired lately.
But I promise I have figured
out a solution. From now on
Tuesday and Wednesday's posts are
being written on Sunday! (like this one was!)

So today for bridal talk tuesday I'm going to
explain a little bit about what exactly
went in to picking our date:

11.10.12

Yes, I'm announcing my wedding date on
my blog. I don't think any of my wonderful blog
friends are going to crash my wedding. But- the more
the merrier right?
Well I wanted to explain to you the thinking that went
into picking our date.

After we got engaged the plan was originally to wait until
2013. And then I got to thinking that I really hate the number
13. Dont get me wrong. I'm a HUGE T.Swift fan and all
but I wasn't really feelin' it. And I think this is a day that
the date is kinda important!
So [KP] and I discussed it a little and he didn't really know
why we were waiting until 2013. So then we decided
we would try to fit it into 2012. Even though we were too late
in my opinion to still plan a March/April 2012 wedding.

Then we started thinking about what we want in a wedding.
We both agreed that we want an outdoor ceremony.
I am in no way a professional photographer but I still knew
that this would give us the optimal amount of light
for outdoor pictures. SWOON.
I love love love outdoor pictures.
So Summer 2012 was out because I didn't want to
have to use my nursing skills during the wedding ceremony
to resuscitate anyone suffering from a heat stroke.
So that was out.
I hate October because then I think everyone assumes
there will be pumpkins and leaves at the wedding.
Uhm, no. I'm having a non-fall wedding in November.
Then I got to talking to some photographers who suggested that
November has the most gorgeous Florida sunsets pretty much ever.
Hmmm. So we got to thinking.
Could we plan a wedding for November 2012?

So I start looking at the calendar at the Saturdays
in November.
11/3,11/10,11/17,11/24.
I love even numbers so I was immediately drawn
to the 10th and the 24th.
The 24th was instantly nixed because that's the
Saturday after Thanksgiving.
So then we have the 10th.
And it started to sound really good.. 11.10.12
No heat, No bugs, perfect sunset = amazing wedding.

And then everyone starts asking "What's the date?"
Every time we saw someone we hadn't seen in a while
this was the first thing out of their mouth.
So then I just started telling everyone that was our date..
And then it was!

Everything has pretty much fallen into place perfectly
for this date even though we have found that it is quite the
popular Saturday in November. I have already run into
a few vendors that were already booked for this date.
Which luckily was none of the ones we really wanted.
So that's how we picked our date!

Here are some cute Pinterest ideas I have found
for displaying your date numbers creatively
around the venue or around your home.

have found so many great ideas I want to DIY.
Will update on those for the next Bridal Talk Tuesday.

For my brides and engaged girls-
what kind of thought went in to picking your date?

Alaska- Day 7 & 8: Ketchikan & The last day at sea

On Day 7 we stopped in Ketchikan for the day
and the first thing on our agenda was
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack show!
Since my Papa and my Uncle own a timber company
and are technically "lumberjacks" it was a really
fun show for our family to go watch.

They divided up the lumberjacks into two teams
one being the US and the other Canada.
We were on the Canadian side.

Our teams members are in the red plaid shirts.

After each round- the winning side got a sliver
of a tree to keep to keep score.

[ND] also got called up to take home this cute little chair.
1 hour in line at the post office, $25 to ship home, and
4 weeks where a little boy checked the door everyday to
see if it was there.

Then we took a trolley tour of Ketchikan.

And stopped to see these awesome
hand carved totem poles!

This is another old brothel. Told you they were everywhere.

The kiddos all rockin' the True Religions.

Monkey!

Day 8- We spent the whole day at sea traveling
to Vancouver to get off the ship!

Because our server loved us, we were selected to do a private
kitchen tour on the last day at sea!

mhmmm.. Baked Alaska. Yum!

[ND] in his talent show at the kids club.

Ice carver!

We failed majorly at Michael Jackson trivia.. We were cheating
a tad and looking up songs on the Ipad.

BINGO! And that's my BINGO slam drink.
Now I realize why it's called that because it was so
strong I could hardly concentrate on the BINGO numbers.

The fam playing BINGO!

And.. Dinner on the last night!
It was so sad to get off the ship but I was super excited to go
to Seattle since I've always wanted to go.

I'll update you on that later in the week.
Tomorrow I will be posting for Bridal Talk Tuesday!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday!
